We already have a pine tree from next year in the garden and will be looking at getting another one this year or just decorating the one in the garden. My son wants us to put up lights so that we can see the house from outside I have said yes but have not decided on batteries or mains power ones. I am also looking at solour powered too. So will take a look over the weekend and see what happens I will be putting them up during the day so that they can light up the house on the 21st. I also need to set a budget and stick to it.

Making your own gifts and decorations this year 2017

Making your own gifts and decorations this year.

This year now that both of my children are older I am looking at celebrating this year with them fro the fist time and to try and teach them the true meaning of the festive season.

For me it is “The Gift of Giving” so we are in the process of doing this and celebrating Yule.

So this year their dad is already underway with making the boys their Yule gift and I am looking at decorating the house and what food and events that we are going to take place.

So it is the 20th November 2017 and a month before I will be looking at decorating the house and the tree.

So where do I start.?

One of the things that I am looking at is what I have in the house and how I can use what I have instead of buying things new and also about what I can forage from the !!br0ken!!

One thing that I have been looking at is the following links fro inspiration and Facebook pages and group that I am in.

Cloves

one of the things that I am looking at for The festive season is buying Cloves.

What are Cloves?

Cloves are the aromatic flower buds of a tree in the family Myrtaceae, Syzygium aromaticum. They are native to the Maluku Islands in Indonesia, and are commonly used as a spice. Cloves are commercially harvested primarily in Bangladesh, Indonesia, India, Madagascar, Zanzibar, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Tanzania. Cloves are available throughout the year.

Buying them “Fair Trade”

http://www.fairtrade.org.uk/en/what-is-fairtrade

Beacuse they they are from over seas I am looking at buying them fair trade and to also look at selling them whole sale when I set up my own business. I am looking at selling dried products for making things with in the future. Cloves can be brought al year and can be purchased form any supermarket so why use them them fro the Winter Holidays what makes them so important?

Health benefit can be found by following the links below.

Cloves are a good source of manganese, selenium, magnesium, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin K, dietary fibre and vitamin C.

What do they have to do with the Winter Holidays?

With cloves coming to the UK from places like Indonesia but the region with the largest production is Zanzibar in eastern Africa; most people know of Cloves being Used in Mulled Wine and Christmas Cake.

Now that the UK is so divested with culture, and traditions it would be nice to see Cloves used more and why not start by using them at this time of the year to decorate the home and in cooking.

Make Cloved Orange: A Regency Pomander

This is the art of using Cloves and Oranges to decorate the home and to give as gifts of family and friends at this time of year. For the history y of Cloved Orange: A Regency Pomander please follow this link below.

One thing that Make Cloved Orange: A Regency Pomander look like are Chirstingles.

What is Christingle?

Chirstingles is a lighted candle symbolizing Christ as the light of the world, held by children at a special Advent service originating in the Moravian Church.

It is sally on the First Sunday of advent which is a Christian way of celebrating this time of year. You can attend a Christingle celebration at your local church and get a christingel as part of the services whilst collecting money for charity.

Week before

Week before Nursery starts.

I can not believe that the summer holidays is almost over. And that both of my children will be off to nursery. I think to myself BREATH! 15 hours a week and no children. The only reason that this happening is due to be being able to claim the 2 year funding.

I think to myself IF I did not get the two year funding what would have done? Only my oldest would be nursery and the youngest still at home. BUT that is not bad thing, after all children grow up so fast. You blink and you miss it.

I have worked since I was 15years old so now it is time to have a break to be a mum and take care of someone other myself full time.

SO 15 hours per week what is my plan? Thinking about it, I only have 3 hours per week after dropping them off each day and waiting to pick then up to really do anything.

So I ham going to try and put a plan together and take things from there. The main thing that I would like to do is be more clutter “FREE and to remove any thing from my life that I no longer need.

I am looking at sorting out all of my books first and only keeping the ones that I love, need and are not damaged.

Since having the boys, I have read more and this is something that I love to do and wish I had more time to do.

So my first Aim is to read one book by Christmas and work on my own book to get the final prof reading over and done with.

So this weekend I will spend it with my children finish and before “nursery” shopping and get ready for the first week back.

The event is to comenorate the women who worked the water ways during World War 2 when there was a shortage of men to crew and canal network and deliver vital supplies such as coal. During the war these courageous women where given the nickname (idle women.) But these women whee far from idle epically when they were given the task of managing 72ft narrow boats and 50tons of cargo.

To Celebrate the 75th Anniversary Kate Baffin and Heather Wastie will bring Isobel's War and Idle women Judies to waterside venues to recreate the journey that the women took (London-Birmingham-Coventry-London.)

They will be travelling with a show Called The Alarum Theatre and an historic narrow boat called Trench. With the support of public funding by the National Lottery through the Arts Council England.

One of the places that they are looking at stopping at is Nuneaton due to the Griff Clara Number four Collieries that was once in Nuneaton.

For more information I have included the useful links and websites below. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

I look forward to hearing from you soon and hopefully seeing you on the day.

LENT

LOOK TO THE FUTURE!  Up until today I did not not what I was going to do thought out LENT this year.

LOOK TO THE FUTURE!  Up until today I did not what I was going to do thought out LENT this year.  After my appointment with the DWP to day this is what I am going to do and trying to achieve over the next 40 days and 40 nights.

I wonder how many other people should thing about doing the same?

When I looking and thing about Lent and what it is about, one of the main things that it is about is "Forgiveness."  It is the time before Easter and when Christ died of our sins and then was born again.

Then when he was dying on cross he was to have said "forgive them farther, for they know what, what they do."

This is the same with many people though out their lives that they do what they think is the right thing to do at the time and then have to spend the rest of their life, living with their actions.

In time to forgive other becomes easier.  "forgive out trespasses as we forgive those, who trespass against us."  The hardest thing in the world is to give yourself.

It is always easier to blame others, pass the blame and to not blame your self when things go wrong.  After all no one is completely blameless, or are they?

So over the next 40 days and 40 nights I will try to forgive.  Maybe then I will feel better about myself and be able to move forward.

I am just scared to do so.

A New Year A New ME 2017

New Year New Me!

Now that it is 2017 it is time to think about a “NEW ME”. Now that I am in my 30’s and a full-time mum. It is time for me to start looking at some “Life changes” that will not just benefit me but my children too.

  1. Drink and Eat more healthy
  2. Exercise
  3. De-Clutter my life
  4. Limit to being on life for no more than two hours per day.
  5. Save £1,000
  6. Look at going back to work
  7. BE HAPPY WITH WHO I AM!

What I am going to do is start the new year by reading more of the books that I have shelved and then putting them on my travel book page and eBay of sale.

I am going to start by reading the following,

  1. EcoBeauty Scrubs, Rubs, Masks and Bath Bombs for you and Your Friends. By Lauren Cox With Janice Cox ISBN Number 978-1-580-08852-7
To help me save more money but making my own beauty products and to also reduce and reuse and recycle where ever I can.
  2. Confident Children Help Children feel good about themselves By Gale Lindenfield ISBN978-0-7225-3956-9 To help raise my children and to try and create I more happy and safe home.
  3. The Toddlers Busy Book 365 Creative Games and Activities to keep your 1-1/2 to 3 years old Busy. By Trish Kuffner ISBN 0-88166-357-3 To help raise my children and to try and create I more happy and safe home and to help to home educate my two boys.
  4. BBC What Not To Wear part 2 for every occasion Accompanies the new ten part television series By Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine ISBN 0-297-84355-9. This was a book that I got for Christmas a few years ago as a “joke” by an old friend of mine who thought I need some fashion tips.
  5. The 7-day Zone diet join the low- carb revolution! 7 Days that will change your life forever By Barry Sears, Ph. D. ISBN 0-00-770286-8 to help me lose the added two stone that I have gained since having my youngest son in 2015.

So all I need to do now is stay on track and get reading.

Christmas Blog

Good afternoon Morning (was going to post yesterday) and a “Happy Holidays” to my readers.

I hope that year as gone well for you and next year will be better.

So lets face it tomorrow is going to be one of the most stressful days of the year, especially of those who have chosen to cook on the day and not prep the day before.

After working in hospitality and catering for over 10 years I know how import prep is and even I fall behind now that I have two children running around all day.

So now might be the time to put the kettle on and sit down and run though my check list and see if it helps.

  1. Tea is important, you always have time for tea!
  2. STOP! Washing the clothes. If you have not done it by now leave it until after Christmas. There is nothing worse than the smell of damp laundry. So put all the dirty clothes in the laundry basket with an air freshener, put the iron away and the clothes that I dry.
  3. Find out your clothes for the morning.
  4. Put the washing machine on WITHOUT any thing in it, possible white vinegar, disinfectant or glucagon just to give it a clean and a fresh smell for when your guest are here.
  5. Now have a cup of tea!
  6. Make a list of now many people you think that you will be cooking for towmarrow and decide when is the best time to start cooking and preparing. REMEMBER the fresher the better and “IF in doubt throw it out!”
  7. Check that you have enough tables, chairs and remind people to bring a chair with them IF you need one do not feel embarrassed to ask for help if you need chairs, cups plates, etc.
  8. Think about using paper plates and plastic cups IF they can be recycled on the day.
  9. Clean as you go! Start with the kitchen and then the bathroom. They are a MUST!
  10. Have a cup of tea.
  11. If you are cooking from frozen with meat reed the instructions so that you cook it correctly to avoid food poisoning, the same when mixing any cooked and uncooked food., Meat, fish, dairy.
  12. Check who is eating what, NO you are NOT running a cafe BUT some people may have special dietary requirements or allergies so if cooking from scratch be careful and if from a box/packet keep the information to hand.

I can not think of any thing else a part from, keep places that MUST be off limits to children or pets closed off where ever possible.

Do not forget to wash your hands!

Have any area that is for children to play in and adults can talk if possible.

It is OK to ask people to take their shoes off at the door.

DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE

HAVE FUN!

PS Practice safe SEX or make sure you have one more seat next year!

PPS any thing that I have for sale will be on E bay by Boxing Day.

Back at Nursery October 2016

Callan is finally back at nursery after having 6 week off for the Summer Holidays.  I choise to keep him off for the 6 weeks because I am a SAHM. (Stay at home mum.)

The other reason why he was keept off was beacuse I currently get 15 hours per week "FREE" Education for him that only really runs Tearm Time only!

This would mean that if I wanted him to go out of Tearm-Time or Full-Time so that I could return to work it would cost me about £80.00 per to send him and his younger brother who will not get the Two Years Funding until September 2017.

https://www.gov.uk/help-with-childcare-costs/free-childcare-and-education-for-2-to-4-year-olds

When I made the dision to send Callan to nursery, I found that it was a very hard dision to make and one that takes a lot for form filling and planning.  Every Nursery that I looked at was diffrent in the way that they ran the day and so were their forms.

I finally pick a place for him that enabled three afternoon per week and on a public tansport route.  Who ever seen the 5th September Bus Time have changed and are about to get worse.  FRom the 10th October 2016 one of the main roads in Nuneaton is going to be closed for 8 weeks.

This means that 3 bus services will be effected and so will one of the main road links not just into Nuneaton Town Centre, but the A444.

http://www.nuneaton-news.co.uk/gridlock-ahead-as-work-to-replace-gas-main-will-close-road-for-8-weeks/story-29734222-detail/story.html

https://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/roadworksmap

It is at times like this that I whish that I had not allowed CART (Canal and River Trust) to bully me into renting a house just so that my son could attend nursery for 15 hours per week.

I know that the time Callan as spent there has helped him alot in his development, but I could have traveled form any where and probably got him to his class with in two hours.  This how long I travel for at the moment from the house that I am renting.

So I have been giving Home Schooling a lot of thought latley and think that Home Schooling is probably what I will do with both Callan and Bryndly in the Future.

https://www.gov.uk/home-education

https://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/homeeducation

With so much on line surrport on offer and class room sizes incresing I am thinking that I can work from home and treach at the same time.  At the moment I am still wegihing up the idea and will see how the next year goes when Bryndly is offered 15 hours "FREE" Education in September 2017.

summer 2016

At this moment in time the summer holidays have not gone how I would have liked them too.

Although I have spent every day with my children I have had an endless amount of meeting to attend and appointments.

This meant that I have not been able to do any thing "fun" with the children and staying at "home" seams to be all that we have done on a daily basis.

On occasions I have taken them to town and given them Ice Cream and Chocolate Cake.  I have also continued to take Callan Dancing and to visit the family.

But when it as come to my own "personal time" nothing seams to have been achieved.

I am hoping to review my book over the next couple of weeks and try to get the first 200 pages completed.

1st July 2016 "The Battle of The Somme" What is the Future for my children?

1st July 2016 "The Battle of The Somme"

Today is the First Time that I have boggled since moving house with my children and becoming a "Full-Time" "Single Mum".

But what dose that really mean?

I have not really cooked in over 4 months and used nature to inspire my cooking with the swans poking there heads onto my kitchen for a few tiny morales.

When I look over the last years of my life before my 33rd Birthday on 4th July 2016 I think of how much my children miss there farther.

And then I think of all of those people who lost there their fathers and prayed for them to home.

My children's father does not live with us and it is not because he his in the armed forces fighting for Queen and Country.  It is because we currently  live in a world where people are encouraged to be "single parents".

For almost three years we tried to stay together and raise our children as a couple BUT over the last 4 months I have done so on my own.  This means taking both my children off the water and placing them into "Bricks and Mortar"

This is due to not being able to raise my children no a narrow boat which was their home due to the way that we where being unfairly treated by Canal and River Trust.

https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/?gclid=CNyXsaGx0s0CFRYTGwod6SUAgA

But today I do not think about this I think about those that gave their lives in the hope of a better future.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-36674451

In Nuneaton at 17.00 there will be a service for those that died on this day.  Those Miners from my Home Town Nuneaton.

https://www.warmemorialsonline.org.uk/node/161639

http://www.nuneaton-news.co.uk/forgotten-heroes-remembered/story-28837557-detail/story.html

Sadly I will be unable to make it due to picking up my oldest son from Nursery  at 17.30 and having to use public transport to do so.

The information about the event should hopefully be displayed on Nuneaton Memories Page on Facebook.

https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=nuneaton%20memories

To night I will probable cook fish and chips, this is due to it being a "traditional" meal of Great Britain.

Once I have got organised I will try to get back to my "Towpath Cooking"  I have just started to prepare the Elderflower to make home made wines and tinchers.  This is what I miss about living on the boat being able to just wake up in the morning and steep out side my front door and be any where in the UK.

Being able to see the sun rise and sunset over the water and hear the song of bird call fill the air.

What is the future for my son(s)?  I what him to go to school but NOT to loses there heritage and grow up not knowing his farther.

This year We have faced many changes with many still to come.

I guess only time will tell.
