Almost April 2019

Hello, thank you for viewing my blog; please do not forget to subscribe via email to be kept up to date with any additional posts.

At the top of my blog I have added a number of local charities that I have supported and have been supported by that are near to my home town.  I am a strong believer that charity begins at home and I am looking at setting up my own local charity in the future called "The Health Boat."

"The Health Boat" is to help to support the local community of my home town and to branch out to support people with in the midlands.  It is called "The Health Boat" due to everyone being in the same boat at one time or another and that being healthy is the most important thing that I believe helps anyone have a happy and positive life.

My aim is to help to support people in being healthy in Mind, Body, Spirit, home and away.  I aim to do this by selling Vegan products and items that are sold, made and produced within the UK. With the money raised to help to support people to help them self's.

To support other I would be looking at working in partnership with other local charities, services, business, training embellishments, the NHS and the local council.

To achieve this I will need the help and support from the local community to get the ball rolling.  For now all I am asking for is for people to like and follow my fakebook page(s) and group(s)

The Health Boat.

It is not a Fad  "It's a life style change."

For more information please contact me.

If you have found any of the information on the bog of interest and would like to make a donation no matter how small please feel free top do so.

This can be done via the Pay pal link below or emailing me direct to get the address to send things to that are displayed on the Wish list.

Thank you for your support.

"When it is not Lemons?"

When it is not Lemons?”

People say “we are what we eat.” but how can this be “when it is not lemons?”

One of the things that I started to do last year was reading the packaging of what I buy, this

made me look at where I buy things from and how much I spend.

For my main shopping I have been using Tesco's on line and have signed up to a fixed

monthly delivery service that means that I can have a delivery 3 days per week every month

providing I spend £40.00 per delivery.

This year I will shop around and see if I can cut my spending and only buy “lemons” and

 not be Sold a “LEMON.”

So last year I started looking at items and tried to STOP but any thing with Palm Oil in,

MSG and Artificial Sweeteners.

I am all for sugar and do not feel comfortable with eating a Chemistry set every meal so the

more basic the ingrediency the better. (personal chose)

So back to the Lemons, I hate it when something claims to have Lemons in but then it says

on the packaging, lemon flavouring, lemon essence.

I can not stand in the super market all day reading packaging so I do it at home when the

boys are a sleep. I also look at who things are packaged to try and reduce the amount of

products that I buy that have load of packaging that they do not need.

This year I aim to cook more at hoe form fresh so in January 2019 I will do my first shop of

the year and by December 2019 I aim to reduce the amount of LEMONS I buy, sugar, Palm

oil, MSG Artificial Sugar and packaging I use.

So the amount I will be spend on my January Shop is…

In the book “366 and more things to do “ISBN 0709706855.
  1. Nougat and other delights It talks about sweet things that are eaten during the festive holidays. It mentions in the book how children around the festive time of the year eat about half a kilo of nougat in Spain.
Today they are always talking about the health of children and how much sugar they consume every day compared to how much they should eat.

I have included some link(s) so that people can view some information and facts so that they can make up their own minds and chose what they should and should not eat and fid their children.

High frequency words

High frequency words

High frequency words are quite simply those words which

occur most frequently in written material, for example,

"and", "the", "as" and "it". They are often words that have

little meaning on their own, but they do contribute a great

deal to the meaning of a sentence.

You can do this at home by writing the word onto small

pieces of paper yourself or you can buy the cards pre made

and also use a “free” on line site and print them out.

I have posted three examples below.

Ooctober Break 2018

October Break 2018

Since starting school in September 2018 my son had his first parents evening and is currently on his second level 1 book at school.

What I have found is that despite him being at school a lot of the leaning is still on the parent/guardian to be very involved in the three “R's” at home.

  1. Reading

  2. Writing

  3. arithmetic

This is why I quest myself and think that may be I should home school and save myslef the time and money it costs to take my son to school every day on public transport.

At the moment I get “free” travel for him until his fifth birthday. I will then have to start paying about £700.00 per term for bus fare and my own on top.

To be continued.

Back to school

Back to school, most people are thinking about nothing this week than "back to school" and already I have seen "Christmas" stock on the shelves in stores before "Halloween"   Life today seams to be about our next shop our next buy.  Even if it means buying things that we do not really need.  One thing that I am trying to teach my children in to "Eat to live" and not to "Live to eat" and to only buy thing when they really need to and not just because they think they need them or want them.  There is nothing wrong with a little indulgence but I do not want my children to become to commercialized.

Canal and River Trust New Regional Directors 2018

http://www.thefloater.org/the-floater-may-2018/meet-the-new-crt-regional-directors

Summer August 2018

At this moment in time it is the beginning of the summer holidays of 2018. The hot weather has finally broken YES!

WE are looking at arraning Blackberry Picking with the boys this week and I can not wait!

I am also getting my oldest ready for school fpr September 2018.

We are still going to home school him and see how school goes. If

we are finding that school dose not suit our way of life then we

will home school full time.

The first thing that we are to do with him his to create a “memory

box” that his will have to take into school. This is so that the my

son and the other children can learn “social interaction skills”,

“communicational skills” and hopefully be able to find people in

their class that they may have things in common with. This will

hopefully enable them to form friendships and also help the teach

to asses what KS Level my son is at.

We are still working on getting him to write his own name and the

alphabet, numbers are not really an issue at the moment so I will

see where he his by January 2019.

I would love to hear of any project that your children may be up to

over the summer holidays or have been given by their schools.

What are Key Skills (KS?)

The Key Skills Qualification is a frequently required component of 14-20 education in England, Northern Ireland and Wales. The aim of Key Skills is to encourage learners to develop and demonstrate their skills as well as learn how to select and apply skills in ways that are appropriate to their particular context.
